Wednesdays 5:30pm

Tai chi, often described as “meditation in motion”, is an ancient and beautiful martial art that enhances balance, strength, and flexibility on both the physical and mental levels. Tai Chi harmonizes the breath, physical movement, concentration, and visual focus to cultivate the inner energy or life force. The Yang style 24-form of Tai Chi, led by Richard, is the most popular form of Tai Chi worldwide. It can be learned and practiced by anyone at any fitness level—though it is necessary to be able to stand and walk. There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice has value in treating or preventing health problems, such as arthritis and chronic pain. It also reduces nervousness, while it increases the size of the intelligent forebrain! Anyone with a little experience of the 24-form is welcome.

“Our bodies know the way, we simply need to learn to listen by opening our minds to the language of sensation.” - Nia White Belt, the art of sensation

Nia, which means ‘purpose’ in Swahili, is practiced internationally with classes taught worldwide in many different languages. The acronym Non-Impact Aerobics provides a rudimentary understanding of the physical practice. However, the mnemonic device “Now I Am” reflects the practice's deeper focus on moving with purpose and choosing joy in the present moment.

Each 1 hour class is accompanied by a unique sonic landscape to help you tap in to sensation while physically conditioning the body in the practice of 52 basic moves. Classes also blend guided imagery with moments of free movement. The practice is deeply influenced by the world of jazz, modern, and Duncan dance, and balanced with the power of martial arts and the calm peace of healing arts.

Sign up today for a fun, energetic movement practice that will leave you feeling both accomplished and relaxed. Experience the magic of music and movement with Joy!

Sivananda Hatha Yoga w/ Kate

Saturdays 11-12:15pm

Book Here

Sivananda Hatha is an older, traditional style of yoga that involves longer resting poses, in between each asana, and at the end of the class. Sivananda Hatha yoga traditionally starts with two incredibly cleansing and revitalizing breathing exercises or pranayama, a series of sun salutations, the 12 base yoga poses, and lastly ending with a 10-15 minute resting pose, or savasana (everyone’s favorite!). What makes the class wholesome and satisfying is the dance between rest, and challenge. Ease, and strength. Fluid duality.
